recent pic of me with Kendall I liked how her eyeshadow came out in this one...In person it looked so much more incredible as i used MAC's Neon 60's glitter over the pink creased area to give this look more kick. Its been close to a year since i typed on here regularly.... so much has happened in that span of time. I still have my quiet subdued side of me so that hasnt changed much. You know, the side that has a tough time expressing my thoughts without caring about hurting someone else's feelings. At times i can be a pushover and othertimes others could describe me as a real bitch. Respect is the name of the game, want it, give it, get it , good!Ive been more open to taking outside projects lately, mainly because these projects were actually good enough to list in my portfolio. I was onhand to do makeup for 2 sessions with Playboy Television and magazine. Last week i did Coco's makeup for Raven Magazine. Coco is Rap star Ice-T's wife in case you didnt know. Those pics will be posted up in the near future. But for now this pic of Kendall prior to going out in the wild city nightlife will have to do. The handsome guy next to her is me by the way ;-). Not a bad shot if i do say so myself. Check out my killer tan!!!Yay | | Monday, December 11th, 2006 | | 1:11 am |
Wow, has it been that long?
Golden's Make Up Summer's Makeup in Black and White COLOR, YAY! Jeez its been such a long time i dont even remeber how to do this LOL! Hope you like the post. As for the tutorial..... give me a bit to warm up to using lj again before i do a long post like that, ok? But all in all.... i think its a great idea. | | Saturday, March 4th, 2006 | | 10:44 am |
Since ive been on here last, i completed my studio, and had My first Ebay sale!
So like i got started on ebay not too long ago, and the whole thing was crazy on how i could get items that were new in packages, never used and perfectly brand new. In other words i was buying some discontinued limited edition colors from MAC that were impossible to find. So im like " wait a sec??? dont i have bags of extra shit that i dont even need"? I went through my backup stash of makeup that i bought over the past 3 - 4 years ( a bunch of stuff i totally forgot i had!)and i have 5 bags of extra foundations, powders, eyeshadows and quartet palettes, lipglosses, laquers, pencils both eyes and lips. Alot of these things are limited edition. I even had backups of the Diana Ross collection eyeshadow quartets that go for like 100 bucks on ebay. Remember Parrot eyeshadow, and the liza minelli collection - well ive got them. granted i used these palettes alot at work so its not like im selling them anytime soon but i totally forgot about some of these items. Good thing too because i totally ran out of the parrot (aka kicky blue) in my liza eyes PM pallet. My diana eyes 2 palette was running down to the metal in the gold and white color. so i have a replacement, YAY! SInce ive been on here last i finished the photography studio that i mention i have been working on for the past 2 years. Yeah! I spent a F*ckload of money on some of this equipment but now i can run my own shoots right out of my place now. You have to see what my living room looks like. It feels as if your in some movie set because of all the equipment set up, LOL! I also found and started to use my old digital 5.1 megapixel camera because i got sick of the shitty camera pics that my sprint phone took. What a difference! Granted my cameraphone pics are better than some of the pics ive seen people use on LJ. But i will show an example of the quality pics from my digital camera below with some of the pictures. The new EXPENSIVE camera hasnt been broken in yet. You will know when it has been. Heres another pic using my old digital camera of the hot neon pink eyeshadow effect on Kendal. Its not the best pic of her, but you really get to see how intense this color is! | | Wednesday, February 8th, 2006 | | 4:05 am |
Monday Night, February 6th @ Work.
I have no idea whats wrong with me lately. I guess i have been feeling short and to the point lately. I hate having to pull out discussion topics out of the air so rather than do that i'll just post up pictures of some of the make up that i did on Monday night. Tuesday was my day off... good thing too but unlike most of my nights off i actually got together with two of my girls from work and spent the day together going shopping....(oi vey!), among other things, and then to dinner at The melting pot, this fondue place. Ive never been so that was deffinetly an experience. They were so ecstatic that i got out of my hut for the day especially because i am mr.workoholic. Im really trying to open up, and i realize that this journal is probably so freaking boring if i dont spill my guts on it... but how interesting is the sh*t that i do on a day to day basis. Regradless i kinda feel like my computer time on here is a chance for me to vent. Sort of like an outlet. One that has been plugged up for too long. The other day i went to the arts and crafts store and was looking for some projects that i could occupy my free time with as a relaxation time for myself. I came across an advanced watercolor kit, and packages of some multicolored wild feathers. I plan to do some surgury to my standard lashes... expect to see something come of it in some of the makeup pics to come. OK - so.... on to the pics.... Saturday Night, February 4th, @ the club
Ok, so i went to this big MACPRO Gala/promo party for thier new collection thats supposed to be released later this month... Having taken off from work was a pretty big deal for me so naturally i thought that i was going to fall in love with some new collection. Long story short.... Nah! Nothing special. It was alright, nothing to buy tons of because your afraid that when its gone you wont find it again anywhere. The party was for a little over 2 hours and i was gone in about an 45 minutes to an hour. I got held up there because i saw so many faces from my past :P . I cant stand hoity toity partys. Thursday night, February 2nd -- at the club
Howdy. Yesterday at the club was weird. But then again the first week of every month is sort of wierd at a stripclub. The beginning of the month usually means that rent/bills are due...which means guys/boyfriends/husbands/fathers/any male figure that walks through the clubs door is less likey to have spending money to blow in a strip club. This usually affects the girls. Granted i have seen some girls that work here who are able to make a grand in the club with only 3 or 4 customers out on the floor or at 1 of the many bars located inside the club. Thursdays usually mean the start of havok for me and one of my co-workers as we will arrive at the club, enter the dressing room and instantly get bum rushed by at least 4 - 7 girls, all at once who want to be put on either of our list. We have several shifts of girls to attend to so lime is very limited. Well yesterday started out mellow for my co worker. I did about 5 faces several sets of just lashes and i was pretty much done. My co worker had about 2 and a set of just lashes. It was strange, but between you and me... it didnt bother me that i was booked to all hell. Because for me i was satisfied and was alright with taking my time and doing some work that i and my girls could be proud of. My job goes far deeper than just applying makeup to these girls. To many of my girls i am the start of their routine. To them dancing is an emotional job that can be draining. Getting thier makeup done means that they get a chance to look gorgeous and at the same time confide in either me or one of my co workers. Feeling gorgeous is key... because their attitudes become different once they get on the floor to work. During thier time in my chair i usually will start by asking them "so whats new?, how was your weekend? Did you ever straighten out that problem with your boyfriend/husband/mother?,ect... I know what your thinking... you probably think that i dont give a sh*t about these girls.... but thats not true. Alot of them are good people, with ambitions, and goals. Some are trying to save up to put their way through school, buy their first house, or car in full. Then there are some where they have crazy lifestyles where their lives could be used for the next screenplay of "GIA 2 - the return". Some of these girls will make rediculous amounts of money a night and not have a dime the following day. My favorite is when a girl rides up to the club in her brand new 2 seater, convertible sportscar and she doesnt even have 20 bucks in her Louis Vuitton pocketbook for gas. LOL! Some of these girls have alot to learn. Sometimes i feel when im writing on here that ive been typing forever! My actually using my Live Journal is an accomplishment if i do say so myself. I grew up my entire life having a hard time expressing my thoughts and speaking my mind. I guess you could say that i am sort of passive aggressive. I would hold all my feelings in, and at one point was severely depressed. Its amazing how things can change so drastically. I Never kept a journal, and rarely talked about what was going on in my life with ANYONE. I guess i was raised to have certain standards about privacy. Yeah im sure im a psychological mess...but for now this journal will have to do. Strangely enough... this is the most ive ever communicated about my personal life with anyone, let alone random folks who share similar interests as me on the internet. Slowly but surely i plan to open up more (i hope) Anyways.... on to the pics that i took last night.I hope i didnt bore you to death! I hope you enjoy the looks. Kelsy - Candy Colors, yum! Monday Night @ Work, and Tutorials Discussion
Monday night was pretty relaxed. I got to do some beautiful work and didnt feel too stressed out about time constraints. I don't take pictures of each and every single girl that i do, just some examples. That and sometimes i forget to, and by the time i remeber-- the girl will already be out on the floor talking to customers. Here's what sucks... The camera phone is pretty convienient in that i dont have to take any additional equipment with me to work. Its my phone, so it goes where ever i go. Seems to knock two birds with one stone. The light in the dressing room is slightly yellow so the pictures have a serious green highlight to them.. I have to adjust the colorations of the pics to a certain extent to what i feel is "accurate". Then i have to resize the images so that they aren't huge on my LJ site... then uploading the images. The whole process sucks, especially if i come home at 5am and am tired as hell. That is why i have a 2 day gap in my journal this last week. I was thinking about making some tutorials. Yesterday (monday night) would have been an excellent opportunity to do so. I even came up with ideas on how i would get in depth with photos and detailed instructions. Since i dont know how to use my mpeg recorder yet (or uploading those types of files for that matter), pictures will have to do. Here's my concerns and things i'd like to address: First off something happened the other day on my journal that pissed me off. And you dont want me to bring out the bitch,OK!~ trust me. Don't ask me which club I work at guys. Another stupid question thats none of your business... how much money i make. If you recognize the club thats great. Fantastic. Keep that info to yourself. I wont discuss it for security reasons, not just for me but for the girl's sake. My girls...These are my clients and for some of them i can call them friends. Lets not make this a security issue because i would shut this site down in a heartbeat. I wouldnt ask you for your street address or credit card number... dont ask me for my personal information. Your lucky im talking about anything on here. And YOU KNOW WHO YOU ARE. Anyone who pulls that shit will be banned. And you can kiss my buttons bitch! Thanks... LJ is a great site and all... but i was thinking that i might meet other talented working artists who are masters of their craft on here. Maybe a few people who have some awesome techniques that i havent seen before or tried to do myself. I havent seen SH*T on here. Maybe they are lurking and not posting on any of the makeup groups. Another thing that gets me is ... why would i post up a detailed tutorial if i havent seen any (that i could use) that anyone has contributed anywhere. Enrich me = I'll enrich you. Fair enough? Let me know .... Here are 2 pics from last night. Enjoy Cally - (Visiting dancer) new girl. Ultra glittery exotic parrot look. Kelsy - Peachy, coral, golden soft smokey look. Sunday at the club
Here are three of my favorite looks from my "list" on Sunday night... Envy's makeup didn't show all that well in these photos, but here is what I can tell you. She had on this gown that was made from this cool fabric that was almost black but with this dark teal metallic interference. I had to pause for a minute or two to find the right products to duplicate the color and texture from her dress. Ive had the honor of doing Envy's makeup for a little over 2 years now and I think shes hooked :D Envy - Super Glittery Teal Vegas Showgirl(note the serious reflections and shimmer) Kelsy Is another one of my regulars whose been around for a little over a year. During the year i've had a chance to see her become serious with her boyfriend (who loves her dearly). Gain and lose weight, change hair colors, and go through an on going battle of whether or not she wants to quit this job. Shes not your typical stripper...she keeps it real and I think I respect her for it. In the look below (which is not the best shot of her :P) she has on a golden eye shadow look where ive blended several eye shadows to make a soft yet dramatic look. There is some shimmer involved as I used a hint of MAC's reflects gold micro-fine glitter. If the smokeiness was toned down a bit, this would be what I consider everyday makeup that you dont have to feel embaressed in. Remeber these girls are definitely not getting done up to go to church, this is a stripclub. A stripclub with flashing lights, black light and a stage with theater type lighting. The makeup has to translate for this type of enviornment. Kelsy - Golden Neutral (Real everyday makeup, except a little bit darker) Below is a pic of Nadia. Shes one of my new girls. Hard to believe that she had a baby 4 months ago! You seriously would never guess looking at her figure. She sort of looks like Juliette Lewis to me. What do you think? Shes hungarian and an easy person to work on. All except for one problem (god forgive me when i say this) her skin is awful. Blotchy, huge pores, dry flakeyskin, and wild acne breakouts in certain areas...and when i say acne i mean cystic acne. They look agrivated and juicy. Sorry for the graphic description. Her eyebrows are deffinetly not the best either. We've talked about me doing them, but she is always in a rush to get in and out of the chair. Good think too, because honestly i dont think that i could spare the extra 20 minutes to perfect them. None the less i still am able to paste her eyebrows down and fill in only what i want to see. The average joe would never know whats underneath all that makeup....but my job is to make it look effortless and non-apparent. Take a look at her pics. Her makeup is a perfect success. When i say that i mean it improved the texture and appearance of her skin while adding a little bit of drama to her eyes. The emphasis on this chick is not the eyes...its the skin. The eyes were easy in this case, whereas on my other girls the eyes take the most time. The makeup holds up to her needs as she tends to sweat profusly Usually she doesnt pick soft girly pastel colors. SHe tends to like dark or bright colors on her eyes. Weve done the dark gunmetal sparkling cat eyes look (see my page a few entrys back), and the wild red eyeshadow (which looks beautiful but is a bitch to clean/do, takes alot of time as well). The fact that she chose pink was a shock which made her one of my pics of Sunday. Hope you like it :D Nadia - Soft yet vibrant Pink (slight shimmer) | | Sunday, January 29th, 2006 | | 2:15 pm |
Been so Busy! :P
I have been so busy since the last time that i posted that i'd come home from work, and get right to bed. Sorry guys. Regardless ive been taking pictures of my work. I really need to get my ass up and go and buy that new camera that i was talking about, one of the finishing pieces to my long awaited photography studio right in my place. This is a hobby that ive been pumping tons of cash into and i have the drive but i need to bring this goal to fruition. I've got the money... now i just need to go and buy it. Heres some pics from the last few days. Alot of the girls asked for lilacs/purples. Only took 2 pictures of those though. Heres the pics. Kendal - Ben Nye lumiere grande colour eyeshadows Cassandra - Very Dark smokey eyes(Akasha, Queen of the damned look) Entice - Lilac with pale blue interference Envy - 2 tone Deep shimmery Navy/Indigo Blue Smokey Alivera - Glittery soft vivd blue cat eyes | | Thursday, January 26th, 2006 | | 5:39 am |
Wednesday night: 3 Makeup session shots posted below Looks like my weekend started early. Usually thursday is the start of a wild weekend at work. By wild weekend i mean a ton of girls. Seems lately we have been hit with alot of new girls, or girls who are in town for a brief while. Most of these girls are from up north. Regardless i try to accomodate everyone so that they can get thier makeup done, get on the floor and i can get as many faces done by 2 am as possible. I have never been one for rushing perfection though. Id rather spend the extra 5 minutes to get everything perfect and to make sure that the makeup holds up. Doing makeup in a stripclub means that the makeup has to withstand excessive sweating, hot stage lights, and time (usually 8-10 hour shirfts). Im the one that the girls come to when they want to make sure that they wont need a serious touchup an hour later. Some of my co-workers who also do makeup have gotten lazy (and i dont want to sound like im talking shit!). They want to get as much faces done in a seriously short amount of time and it shows. I feel that lately most of the girls have been neglecting those two and been coming to me. I know it seriously sounds like im talking smack about them, but you have to understand that ive seen their best work and lately they have been seriously slacking. On a positive note...a month ago I did makeup for a Playboy photoshoot and i got a picture that i can share :D Please undestand that im only showing the G rated pic for the public viewing audience :]. Hope you like it. Anyways... enough about me... now on to the work that I did tonight. :D Kendal - Dark matte smokey eye (Pamela Anderson look) Cassandra - vivid blue eyeshadow, no sparkles I got to use some new eyeshadow on Cassandra today. I think im in love. Rather than using my usual products, I ordered a whole bunch of sample eyeshadows just to test out how they would work for me and honestly... I can say that i could have used these shdaows a hell of alot sooner. Its by this company called "Pure Luxe". I ordered it off the internet with my paypal account. Samples were about a $1.25 so i wasnt too worried about cost. My order came out to $92 bucks total, but i ordered sooo many colors and samples. These shadows were equal to what i was used to with La Femme and the MAC pigments except those brands dont have colors like these. I used 2 colors from the PURE LUXE collection on Cassandra. If you have more questions about what i used on her let me know. Mercedes - Shimmering neon green (doesnt she look like Heather Graham?) Betty - Playboy | | Tuesday, January 24th, 2006 | | 7:19 am |
Monday Night Makeup Post
After the crazy weekend i get a chance to actually take my time and do some neat work. When i have a ton of people waiting to get into the makeup chair it seriously stresses me out. Me and my coworkers(not to mention friends) both get slammed from the moment that we get in the door to the minute we leave. Monday night is never usually too bad. I had a steady flow of traffic and got a chance to take my time. I work 6 nights a week and rarely take off. If your wondering where I work or what kind of work i do, let me tell you. Me at Work I work in one of the best strip clubs in South Florida. Ive been here for the last 2 and a half years. Ive built quite a rep for myself here because the staff loves me, the girls love my work, and honestly I wanted a change from craziness of my past. Ive lived in Philadelphia (my hometown)almost all my life, in DC for 3 years (where i worked with the DC USA/Teen USA pageants) , and New York,NY (where i worked in fashion doing tons and tons of agency work). NY was deffinetly an experience. Everyone seems miserable there regardless of how much money they were making. The buildings were old, rundown and rent there was way more expensive. You deffinetly didnt get what you paid for in NY, but i think that it was an equal balance to be in one of the biggest metropolitan cities in the world. Did i like living in NY?? Um, no thanks. Florida on the other hand is amazing. I find that i have a newfound sence of life here. The weather seems to be excellent about 95% of the time. When it goes under 75 degrees everyone starts to break out their warm clothes. I can honestly say that the weather and the tropical atmosphere have a huge impact on everyones mood. That or at least mine. No more shoveling my car out of snow ;-). Im sure that i will be spilling more of the beans about my life and experiences... but for now i am going to just post what i did last night at work :P. Hope you enjoy it. Another one of Bobby (visitor from NY) This is the third day in a row that i've done Bobby's makeup. She saw some of the makeup that i did for some of the other girls on her first night at the club and had me put her name down on "the list". When it was her turn she said she didnt care what colors i used on her eyes, she said just to do something wild and creative. She had this neon pink teddy thing on...so i figured why not do the same on her eyes. I had just gotten the Krolan UV watercolor palatte and was looking for an excuse to use it. The pink wasnt too difficult for me to work with and the overall project was a success. The thing that sort of sucks about it was you have to sort of come up with creative ways to use that medium. This sh*t isn't your typical eyeshadow. You have to play with mixing and get the consistencey to where it spreads evenly for whatever effect your trying to achieve. As far as the UV purple in the palatte.. Id say that that color was way more difficult to use than the pink. None the less i think i got it to where i was satisfied and took the picture. The purple is very cool. From the looks of the color on the pallate you dont think that its a neon color. You mix in a drop of water (or in my case mixing medium) and apply it. Once applied it doesnt go on so dark. Its a dark but bright color...if that makes any sense.LOL. I put some lavender holographic fine grain glitter over the wet product after my depth blending and after the lashes were glued on and voila. Then i moved on to foundation and all the effects that i do when making up a full face. In this case i added some flatback swarovski crystal rhinestones for some added drama. It didnt show too much in the picture, but when bobby goes our onto the floor... the glitter and the stones twinkle like crazy. A nice effect to attract people from the audience even if they are way back, far from the stage. Hopefully i didnt bore you readers too much. Tuesday is my day off. Yippee!!!! Took 6 days for me to get here and now i plan to do absolutely nothing important. | | Monday, January 23rd, 2006 | | 7:49 am |
Sunday Evening makeup at work
All the products and tools that i get to work with....shown below: 2 trunk size train cases filled with foundations, powders, eyeshadow pallates, blush palettes, cream color bases, moisturizers, lip balms, lipsticks, lipglosses, lip jellies, makeup brushes, tons of brush cleaner, napkins, lipliners, eyeliners, fluidliners, pigments, glitters, mineralized fininshing powders, bag of false lashes, tweezers, scissors, sharpeners and a whole bunch of other stuff that im sure im forgetting :P. Alot of these things are limited edition items that arent around anymore(which sucks -- cause they are some awesome colors!). Everything here is what i keep at my station locked up at work. I bought all of these things over the span of 2-3 years and constantly have to replenish my stock on a month to month basis. This also allows me to keep up with the current trends and styles. Most of these things are MAC, although I have certain products from Kryolan, Chanel, Lancome, Morbid, Rebel, Urban Decay, and NARS. NOW ON TO THE PHOTOS I do alot of cat eyes. And they always seem to ask for this. Every once in a while I get to do something different, out of the ordinary. I guess thats cool because its a break from the norm. I get to use false eyelashes, and sometimes crystal rhinestones. In most cases i'll get to use glitter if neccessary. Im careful with this because I don't just throw any color glitter to shadow. All of the glitter that I use is fine grain, not chunky. Some of them are irredecent and translucent. I match my glitter to the color group of shadow thats being used...ONLY. I figure if you spend a certain amount of time with shadow... you don't want to lose the effect of all the colors. The glitter should only enhance it... otherwise you've wasted your time. Today was not to crazy so I was able to spend some time with each of my clients. I didn't take pictures of all of them. Just the ones that I thought were dazzling. I realize that the quality of these pictures DO SUCK as they are from my sprint cameraphone. None the less at least I have a way of showing them... that is at least until i get a better digital camera. Hope you like these! Enjoy. Bobby - Rainbow glittery cat eyes (this is the same girl with the neon pink shadow later in my journal) Elyse - Mermaid blue/green cat eyes My camera really sucks, because the color in the picture below turned out sort of light blueish grey whereas in person her eyeshadow was blueish-green. Very mermaid like. It had a glowing royal blue effect. Nadia - Dark smokey, glittery cat eyes (eyes only shown because eyes were only done on this client...no foundation, powder, ect.) | | Sunday, January 22nd, 2006 | | 6:12 pm |
